WOW...a (great) load of info! (June 19, 2010)

Hello Susan and the "Gang",

I have compiled about two fat ringbinders with info on EOs, carrier oils, herbs, and natural ingredients for the last 8 years. It is refreshing to see that I am not the only one thinking more simplistically. Your online info certainly confirms what I have found - naturally with slight differences. I am on a quest to find Organic, Cold pressed, Unrefined/Unfiltered oils.

I have been lucky to find SOME - but not too many. Some of the organic oils are refined - useless for my uses. Others are organic, but not coldpressed . . . you can see where I am going.

Plus, I am trying to find oils that were produced in 2009 or this year. I found oils that were produced in 2008!!!! They render useless in my opinion.

If you have ANY idea where to find what I am looking for, PLEASE let me know. I did check on some of the "suppliers" you have mentiond - but no info on how the oils (and perhaps where) the oils are produced.

Also, how do I get money to you? I read something SOMEWHERE on your site - but can't find it. . .

Be well and THANKS again for your splendid site!

Tina

Hi Tina,

I buy my unrefined oils from Flora. 800-446-2110 Theirs are always excellent. They describe their oils as organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, and unmodified. They are also fresh. They put the press date on the label as well as a use-by date. All the bottles I bought had a press date a month or two earlier. I use the almond oil on my face and the walnut oil on my salads (delicious).

For jojoba oil the only unrefined oil I've found is from Jancas in Arizona. For shea butter I like L'Occitane. (I've actually found rancid shea butter, unbranded, yuck!)

As I wrote on the site, if the oil is refined, it's worthless. Beware, I once bought some "deodorized" almond oil that was awful. If only I had studied my oil production books first, I would have seen that "deodorized" is the most damaging step in refining. All that and the oil had a very strong and unpleasant odor. I guess it wasn't good to start with. I threw it away, but I should have demanded a refund.

If you are going to buy the book (yeah!!) you can mail a $15 check to me. Email or phone for an address.

I'm so glad you like my site! I'll tell Captain and Blondie.

Susan
