Brown Family of Susan J. Dorey

Marietta Brown married Michael Bryne in 1852 and lived with him on Cape Cod in Truro, MA. She had five children and died shortly after the last one was born. This is what I know about her parental family and the family of her older brother.

For some time I wondered how an Irishman living on Cape Cod married a woman born in Maine. Then I discovered her family had moved to Cape Cod before 1845 (when brother Obadiah married there).

There is a Nettie Brown, granddaughter to Obadiah Sumner Brown, who was likely Nancy Atwood Brown. She lived with Obadiah in 1880.

Wife Lucy's parents were Captain Thomas Clare Kennedy (1837–1913) and Sophia Maria Lombard (1839–1928).
The existence of a second wife is theorized from the Town of Wellfleet birth record for Kermit, in which his mother was named as "Susie Kennedy." The mother of Paul was named as "Lulu Kennedy." It may be that the "L" was transcribed as "S". The MA State Archives have a 1875 birth record for Lulie E. Kennedy in Wellfleet; the marriage record is for Lucy Edney Kennedy. It may be that all these names are for the same woman.
